Welcome to Class 6!

In Lower Key Stage 2 the teachers are:

• Mrs Allin (Class 4)
• Miss Bidgood (Class 5)
• Mrs Anderson (Class 6)
• PPA teacher: Mrs  Cross
• Our TA's are Mr Manning, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Symmons and Mr Bodman

Other information:

• Our P.E days are Monday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor).  Children are to wear their P.E kits to school on the above days.  They will need warm outdoor clothing (wear layers) and trainers.  Earrings need to be taken out on these days unless they are able to take them out themselves prior to the session. 

• Fruit: The children may have a fruit snack at playtime. You are free to send your own fruit or you can purchase it at Mrs Allins' fruit shop. The fruit costs 20p per day or you can pay £1 for the week.

• Reading books: Your child will be provided with a reading book in school or they may choose their own from home. They will be expected to read at home and will be instructed to bring their books in on a specific day each week (however, pupils can change their books when completed at any time). The adult will be expected to sign their reading diary and provide a comment.

From Tribes to Togas

This term, our topic is about Celts and Romans. We will be learning about what life was like in Britain during these periods, exploring how the Celts lived and how the Roman invasion changed daily life. The children will develop their historical understanding by asking questions, comparing the two time periods and exploring how the past has influenced life today. Alongside this, they will take part in a range of activities across the curriculum, including designing and decorating Roman shields, creating Celtic patterns and responding to Celtic-style music. Using the Digital Learning Den, our focus will be to build knowledge, develop curiosity and deepen understanding through a range of engaging and creative tasks.

Our Spring Topic is: Jungle Mania!

This term our topic is Jungle Mania! We will be exploring the amazing world of rainforests, discovering what makes them unique and where they are found around the globe. The children will learn about the layers of the rainforest, the incredible variety of plants and animals that call it home, and how these ecosystems are vital to life on Earth. We will also find out about the ways rainforests provide food, medicine, and resources for people. Through this topic, the children will gain a deeper understanding of the rainforest’s importance and the need to protect these remarkable environments.

Our Autumn Topic is: Fiesta Fun!

This term our topic is Fiesta Fun! We will be exploring and celebrating a variety of festivals from around the world, including Holi, Eid, Christmas, Diwali, Chinese New Year, and Carnivals. The children will learn about the traditions, stories, food, music, and celebrations that make each festival special. Through creative activities, art, music, and storytelling, we will discover how different cultures come together to celebrate joy, community, and new beginnings.
